Banglalink develops SME strategic focus

8 Jul 2009

Banglalink, the Bangladeshi mobile operator owned by Egypt’s Orascom Telecom, has formed a strategic alliance with City Bank whereby the two companies will jointly develop their services in the SME sector. Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the alliance will provide a combination of financial and communication solutions to SMEs, including services such as SMS banking and SME-specific information services, and will jointly organise events, workshops and trainings with the objective of SME sector development. Banglalink, the country’s second-placed cellco in terms of total customers, has already developed special SME packages including preferential call rates bundled with various value added services, which it claims enjoy ‘immense’ popularity amongst enterprise users.
