Vodafone Portugal launches HSPA+

Exame Informatica Online has reported that Vodafone Portugal has commercially launched HSPA+ mobile broadband services in Lisbon. The network uses HSPA+ 64QAM technology to provide peak download speeds of 21.6Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5.7 Mbps. As reported by CommsUpdate on 6 February Vodafone had previously deployed the technology in Lisbon as part of a limited trial in conjunction with Ericsson. Vodafone plans to gradually expand the service across the country.
