29 Jun 2009

Peru’s state agency for promoting private investment ProInversion has pre-qualified two companies – Kuwaiti-based HITS Telecom and local telco Americatel – to compete in a tender for 25MHz of spectrum in the 1900MHz band. According to BNamericas, technical and economic offers are due on 15 July. ProInversion expects the winner to commit to investing USD150 million over 20 years. Chilean-owned Americatel provides internet, long-distance, fixed telephony and data services across Peru, while HITS has wireless operations in a number of African countries.
