Oman telecoms company Omantel has signed a five-year agreement with Dhofar Insurance Company to link the firm’s branches with its main office through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Amer bin Awadh al Rawas, CEO of Omantel, said that his company will also supply Dhofar with computer terminals and all other necessary equipment, indicating that the telco would link around 36 branches with the main office at speeds of up to 4Mbps through multi-protocol labelling switching (MPLS) technology. Taher al Haraki of Dhofar Insurance stated: ‘We are pleased to sign this agreement with Omantel because it would help us benefit from the best services of the company. The agreement would in turn help us provide the best services to our customers though our main office and other 36 branches all over the Sultanate.’
