AIS net income falls 10.7% as sales drop by THB2.3bn

Thailand’s largest cellco by subscribers Advanced Info Service (AIS) has reported that its first-quarter net profit fell 10.7% year-on-year to THB4.57 billion (USD132.3 million) due to revenues that dropped to THB26.3 billion, down from THB28.6 billion in January-March 2008. AIS’s subscriber base grew by 10% y-o-y to 27.58 million at end-March 2009. The GSM operator’s parent group Shin Corp also reported that its Q1 2009 net profit fell 3.2%.
