Maroc Telecom’s 1Q group revenues up 2.4%

11 May 2009

Moroccan incumbent telco Maroc Telecom has reported that its consolidated revenues grew 2.4% year-on-year to MAD7.1 billion (USD865 million) in the first quarter of 2009, whilst EBITDA increased by 4.9% to MAD4.2 billion, as its group customer base increased by 9.7% to 19.7 million. The growth was largely attributable to its domestic mobile business, which achieved a 6.8% year-on-year increase in its subscribers to 14.6 million, and to its African subsidiaries, which expanded their combined user base by 42.8% to 2.8 million. Maroc Telecom operates fixed and wireless services in Morocco, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Mali, and a European MVNO service.
