Telecom Fiji inks preliminary interconnect deal with Digicel

7 May 2009

Mobile start-up Digicel Fiji, which launched a USD70 million GSM network in the country in September 2008 to break the monopoly held by Vodafone, has signed an interim interconnection agreement with fixed line operator Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL), enabling Digicel customers to make calls to landlines at reduced rates. According to Dr Mahendra Reddy, the chairman of the Commerce Commission, the government is now working on reviewing interconnection charges for other telecoms service providers in the country.
