Sales, profits down at DTAC

30 Apr 2009

Thailand’s second biggest cellco by users Digital Total Access Communication (DTAC) has reported a 37% year-on-year drop in first-quarter net profit attributable to shareholders, to THB1.48 billion (USD42 million), which it blamed on slow subscriber growth in a weak economy. However, the figure was an increase from THB1.24 billion in the previous quarter. Revenues from telephony services fell from THB17.43 billion in 1Q 2008 to THB16.25 billion a year later, whilst operating profit dropped from THB3.59 billion to THB2.41 billion over the same period. DTAC is a subsidiary of Norway’s Telenor.
