Smart to offer 24Mbps national broadband service

Irish altnet Smart Telecom plans to offer a 3Mbps broadband service from 700 eircom exchanges across the Republic, as well as launching a maximum 24Mbps service at a further 300 exchanges. SiliconRepublic.com reports the company will introduce an ‘unlimited’ 24Mbps connection for business users priced at EUR37 (USD48) per month, from 37 exchanges it has unbundled; in 300 other exchanges the company will charge EUR49 per month. The (maximum) 3Mbps service, including line rental and off-peak local and national voice calls will cost EUR47.49 with a 7Mbps service priced at EUR51.49, it said.
