TeliaSonera, Elisa and DNA win 4G frequencies

24 Apr 2009

Reuters reports that Finland has awarded additional frequencies in the 1800MHz band to the three national mobile network operators – TeliaSonera, Elisa and DNA – to launch 4G long-term evolution (LTE) networks. ‘As a result, fast 4G networks can be provided with a substantially wider coverage at a lower cost than commonly used 2600MHz networks, which require a considerably larger number of base stations,’ a spokesperson for the Finnish government said in a statement.
