14 Apr 2009

The Finnish Comms Regulatory Authority (FICORA) has announced that the three major mobile operators have agreed on new mobile interconnection charges that will be introduced in 2010. TeliaSonera Finland, Elisa Corporation and DNA Finland have all consented to reduce rates by 10%; at present interconnection fees for TeliaSonera and Elisa are EUR0.049 (USD0.065) per minute, while DNA charges EUR0.054 per minute. As of 1 December 2009 all operators will adopt symmetrical interconnection pricing, and DNA’s rates will fall to EUR0.049 per minute. The following year, on 1 December 2010 the rate will further reduce to EUR0.044 per minute. FICORA has stated that, despite the reduction it still expects to see further rate cuts in 2011.
