27 Mar 2009

According to the Bangkok Post, True Online has launched an 8Mbps broadband connection for customers in the capital, priced at THB1,199 (USD34) per month. The service will be extended to residents of Chiang Mai, Phuket and Chon Buri later this year. True said it plans to spend between THB1.5 billion and THB3 billion over the next two years to increase broadband capacity in Bangkok to 800,000 users. An additional THB420 million has been set aside to increase international bandwidth from 12Gbps to 17Gbps from next month. True expects to attract around 10,000 customers to the 8Mbps service, and will target small business and high usage residential customers. True had 650,000 broadband subscribers at the end of December 2008, up 16% on the previous year. The average revenue per broadband user is THB700 per month.
