SLT’s annual profits up 31%

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has reported a 31% increase in consolidated 2008 net profit to LKR7.367 billion (USD65 million), on revenues that climbed 9% to LKR47.044 billion, despite a 21% increase in operating costs. Annual operating profit was down by 11% to LKR8.199 billion. During the year SLT made a capital injection of LKR2.1 billion into consolidated mobile division Mobitel, as well as a LKR168 million investment in 75%-owned unit Sky Network, and an additional investment of LKR100 million in wholly owned broadcaster SLT VisionCom.
