SaskTel gives up on undersubscribed VoIP service

Saskatchewan telco SaskTel has shut down its voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) telephony service WebCall after five years in operation, reports Canadian newspaper Leader-Post. The IP telephony service was operated via Navigata, a member of the SaskTel group, and had been made available in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta, but a company spokesperson recently said it only had around 400 users and was operating at a significant loss.
