Foris completes WiMAX trials

24 Feb 2009

Foris Telecom has announced that it has completed the site acceptance tests on its mobile WiMAX network in Maputo, Mozambique. The trials are part of the final testing phase on the Foris network prior to its commercial launch which is expected in April. The network is being deployed using equipment from Runcom, including CPEs, base stations, and ASN Gateway. ‘The success in Mozambique will be a model for our aggressive expansion plan for broadband wireless services based on Runcom’s WiMAX technology in Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Uganda, Cameroon, Central Africa, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea Conakry, Kazakhstan and Haiti, in which Foris holds WiMAX licences,’ said Dov Sluk, chairman and CEO of Foris Telecom.
