Tele2 to drop KPN for T-Mobile, report says

17 Feb 2009

Swedish pan-European telecoms operator Tele2 is reportedly mulling plans to ditch KPN Mobile Netherlands as its MVNO partner in favour of rival operator T-Mobile Netherlands, an industry official is quoted by Reuters as saying. The unconfirmed source claims Tele2 is looking to move its entire 460,000 customer base over to Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Mobile, although a separate source says no deal has yet been sanctioned or completed. Former monopoly operator KPN gained Tele2 as a wholesale customer when it acquired the Dutch low-cost mobile phone carrier Telfort in 2005. Neither KPN nor Deutsche Telekom were available for comment.
