CMPak sets aside USD500 million for investment in 2009

Chinese news source Xinhua News is reporting that China Mobile plans to invest USD500 million in its Pakistan subsidiary CMPak, which operates under the Zong banner, during 2009; it is expected that the funds will be spent primarily on the rollout of additional network capacity. In announcing the plans CMPak’s COO, Zafar Usmani, revealed that the company had spent in excess of USD1.6 billion on its Pakistan operations, and said it had created 41,700 jobs in the country.
