In the fourth quarter of 2008 Swedish mobile, wireline and broadband group TeliaSonera posted a 12.7% year-on-year rise in revenues to SEK28.096 billion (USD3.422 billion), whilst net profit increased by 23% to SEK6.399 billion. EBITDA, excluding non-recurring items, rose 14.8% to SEK8.272 billion and the EBITDA margin to 29.4%, compared to 28.9% in Q4 2007. During the quarter the total number of subscribers grew by more than 6.8 million to 134.8 million, with 3.4 million new subscriptions in majority-owned operations and over 3.4 million in associated companies.
Full-year net sales rose 7.5% to SEK103.585 billion, compared to SEK96.344 billion in 2007. Organic growth in local currencies was 3.9%. Annual EBITDA, excluding non-recurring items, rose 6.2% to SEK32.954 billion (SEK31.021 billion), but the margin fell to 31.8% (32.2%). Operating income for the year, excluding non-recurring items, climbed 9.3% to SEK30.041 billion (SEK27.478 billion). Annual net profit was SEK21.442 billion, up 6% on 2007’s figure of SEK20.298 billion. In the twelve-month period TeliaSonera added 7.5 million new subscribers in majority-owned operations and 12.5 million in associated companies.
