Nextivity reports that 3 Ireland has selected the vendor’s SMART Repeater as a core component of the Republic’s National Broadband Scheme, to ensure the highest possible data transmission rates, even within indoor environments that usually challenge more traditional wireless networks. Hutchison Whampoa-owned 3 was recently selected as the broadband provider for Ireland’s National Broadband Scheme by the Ministry of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources at the conclusion of a competitive tendering process. The scheme is a government-backed initiative which aims to see high speed broadband services available in all areas of the country by 2010.
