Imagine revenues climb 40% in 2008

14 Jan 2009

Irish alternative telecoms operator Imagine Communications, led by the entrepreneur Sean Bolger, reported strong growth in 2008, with revenues up nearly 40% year-on-year from EUR68 million (USD90 million) to EUR93 million. Imagine, which acquired rival service provider Irish Broadband from NTR and Kilsaran Concrete for around EUR47 million in April 2008, says the new unit contributed EUR10 million of the group’s total revenues.

Imagine Communications provides fixed line, broadband and other telecoms services in the Republic via its Imagine, Gaelic Telecom, Access and Cinergi brandings. It also has offices in the Netherlands and the US. Bolger hopes to utilise Irish Broadband’s network and spectrum assets to roll out WiMAX technology across the country. According to the Irish telecoms regulator ComReg, Imagine is the second largest supplier of fixed line and broadband services to the Irish SME and corporate businesses sector, behind eircom.
