Hungary: broadband connections reach 1.52 million at end-November

According to figures published by the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) of Hungary, the number of landline broadband connections reached 1.520 million at the end of November 2008, up from 1.486 million at the end of September. Of the total, some 791,000 connections were for ADSL-based services, up from 786,000 in September, while the numbmer of cable broadband subscriptions rose from 690,000 to an estimated 729,000, based on NHH estimates for the country’s four biggest cablecos. The four – UPC, T-Kabel, Fibernet and DIGI – collectively claimed 525,000 subscribers between them at the end of November 2008, and controlled around 70% of the cable market.
