Cableco UPC Netherlands says its ultra-high speed Fibre Power Internet service is accessible to 1.1 million homes in the country, offering broadband internet access at speeds of 60Mbps-120Mbps, reports Dutch research outfit Telecompaper. The operator’s Fibre Power Internet network utilises EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology and is currently available in Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Dordrecht, following a launch in Amsterdam and Almere in September this year. In 2009 the cableco intends to roll out services to additional towns and cities. UPC’s networks passed a total of 2.73 million Dutch households at 30 September 2008, at which date it counted 672,000 broadband internet subscribers and 551,000 telephony subscribers.
