12 Dec 2008

Costa Rican state telecoms monopoly ICE has inked a USD50 million contract with Swedish equipment manufacturer Ericsson to provide 300,000 new GSM lines, writes BNamericas citing an ICE statement. According to ICE, the first 100,000 lines will be commercially available within a fortnight, with a further 100,000 available in eight weeks and the final tranche in March 2009. The new lines from Ericsson will boost ICE’s data transmission capacity, allowing the operator to offer new value added products such as MMS and mobile banking.
