Telus buys 40Gbps technology

Canadian telco Telus has ordered 40Gbps fibre-optic network equipment from domestic technology provider Nortel Networks to enable it to quadruple the transmission capacity of its national fixed backbone infrastructure. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. In September Bell Canada announced a similar purchase of 40Gbps fibre-optic equipment from Nortel to upgrade its transport network speeds.
