Satellite and wireless broadband equipment supplier Netcom Africa has inked a deal with O3b Networks for the latter to provide high-bandwidth, low-latency IP services to and within Nigeria. ‘O3b’s internally redundant fibre quality internet backbone will allow us to provide lower latency and higher speeds to telcos and 3G, WiMAX, and ISP carriers,’ said Yen Choi, Group EVP and CTO of Netcom Africa. O3b Networks is funded by Google, Liberty Global, and HSBC Principal Investments. No financial details have been disclosed.
