State-owned telco BH Telecom has inked a deal with Ericsson Nikola Tesla for the rollout of a 3G network, is reporting; Ericsson will integrate 3G equipment into BH Telecom’s existing GSM/GPRS/EDGE network in a deal valued at EUR2.76 million (USD3.51 million). In the first phase of deployment base stations are expected to be installed in the nine largest urban areas of the country. However, BH Telecom has yet to receive a licence for 3G services, and according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, the country’s regulator, the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA), has still not announced a date for the issuing of licences, despite previous indications that auctions would take place in 2008.
