24 Oct 2008

Finnish full-service telecoms operator Elisa has posted year-on-year drops in third quarter revenue, operating profit (EBIT) and EBITDA of EUR20 million, EUR5 million and EUR3 million respectively. In the three months ended 30 September 2008 turnover was EUR374 million (USD479 million), EBIT EUR77 million and EBITDA EUR129 million, whilst profit before tax amounted to EUR67 million (down from EUR89 million in 3Q 2007). The number of Elisa’s mobile subscriptions increased by 57,400 during the quarter, due in particular to new 3G, mobile broadband and pre-paid subscribers, whilst the number of fixed broadband subscriptions decreased by 3,200 on the previous quarter. Monthly ARPU in the mobile business was EUR26.4 (EUR26.8 a year earlier). Capital expenditures in the three-month period totaled EUR42 million, down from EUR44 million in the year-ago quarter.
