Two WiMAX winners yet to pay up

Two of Bangladesh’s three recent WiMAX licence winners have failed to pay the required fees in time, forcing the regulator to extend the deadline from 16 October to 15 November, reports bdnews24.com. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) cited the global financial crisis as the reason for Brac BDMail Network and BanglaLion Communications failing to cough up the one-off fees for their nationwide wireless broadband licences. The other winning company, Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Ltd (previously reported as Aguri Wireless Broadband), was handed its licence yesterday following its payment of the required fee, a BTRC statement said.
