Zong expands GSM network coverage

Pakistani news source The Post is reporting that China Mobile subsidiary Zong has increased its GSM coverage to the region of Pasni; the expansion is part of the cellco’s overarching plan to roll out the largest network in Pakistan. Salman Wassay, Zong’s marketing director said, ‘We believe in providing quality services to our growing customer base. This is part of our strategy to expand our reach to people living in rural and other far flung areas of the country. With the accessibility of quality service to these areas, our customers can communicate effectively while experiencing a positive change in their lives.’ The report claims that Zong has added over 2,000 network cell sites since launch to reach approximately 3,000 at present, with the operator aiming to have over 10,000 sites in operation by the end of 2009.
