BH Telecom without supervisory board for a month

1 Oct 2008

Local news source Nesavisne Novine is reporting that BH Telecom will be without a supervisory board for at least another month, after a meeting between the operator’s shareholders was adjourned earlier this week; it has since been rescheduled for 31 October. It is understood that the supervisory board was not appointed after smaller shareholders failed to nominate a representative, whilst the government has also still to put forward its final candidate; the board must consist of seven members. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, the privatisation of BH Telecom has been mooted since mid-2007, but political obstacles have continued to delay the sale. Reports at the end of September 2008 indicated that the process was moving forward though and Telekom Slovenije is rumoured to have expressed an interest in the telco.
