Telekom Slovenije considering bid for BH Telecom

26 Sep 2008

Telekom Slovenije is interested in tabling a bid for state-owned BH Telecom, local news source Dnevni Avaz is reporting, citing comments by Telekom Slovenije chairman Borjan Dremelj. Telekom Slovenije has already invested in companies in Bosnia & Herzegovina, including ISP Blic.Net and Aneks, a firm providing fixed line services alongside network development and system integration. The Slovenian company merged the two Republika Srpska operators in June 2008 under the Aneks banner, focussing the new entity on the provision of broadband and VoIP services. By the end of 2008 a further addition to the newly formed company is expected, with cableco Netkom joining the group after Telekom Slovenije purchase the operator for EUR1.3 million (USD1.9 million) at the beginning of September 2008. Aneks has set aside approximately EUR8 million for investment in 2008 and the company claims to currently have 12,000 internet subscribers.
