Alca-Lu lands Greenland Connect at Nuuk

Alcatel-Lucent (Alca-Lu) has announced that its cable ship has landed a 2,100km section of Tele Greenland’s new submarine cable, Greenland Connect, at Nuuk, connecting Greenland with Iceland. Offering an ultimate capacity of up to 96×10Gbps, Greenland Connect has been designed to provide international and domestic connectivity to meet the growing bandwidth requirements for new applications to serve Tele Greenland’s customers. The world’s largest island, Greenland has a population of 57,000 located along the west and east coast of the island in 17 town and 55 settlements. Completion of the cable laying is expected to be achieved before the winter season.
