Telefonica acquires Star GlobalCom

Peruvian telecoms operator Telefonica del Peru (TdP) has acquired cable TV operator Star GlobalCom from Liberty Global for USD12 million, reports BNamericas citing local newspaper Correo. Star GlobalCom operates cable networks in the cities of Arequipa and Tacna, where it has passed in the region of 66,000 homes, around half of which have been upgraded to be two-way capable. The company has a small broadband internet customer base.
