Visafone’s subscriber base passes one million mark

5 Sep 2008

According to AllAfrica.com, Visafone’s subscriber base has broken the one million barrier six months after the company launched commercial operations. The cellco’s network covered twelve states and over 40 cities at launch, and it has since expanded to 17 states and over 150 towns. Much of Visafone’s success can be explained by its aggressive low-cost pricing policy – it claims to have Nigeria’s cheapest on-net tariff of NGN0.1 per second and the lowest on-net SMS price of NGN5 (USD0.04) per message.
