Four interested in WiMAX licences

29 Aug 2008

Jamaica’s Spectrum Management Authority (SMA) has received expressions of interest from at least four companies for WiMAX licences in the 2.5GHz spectrum band, writes BNamericas citing local newspaper The Jamaica Gleaner. The newspaper reported that the SMA would only confirm the interest of Digicel Jamaica, which already has a WiMAX operation on the island which uses the 3.5GHz band. Cable & Wireless Jamaica and America Movil’s MiPhone are also interested, the newspaper reported.
