Parliamentary debate to be held on telecoms privatisation

28 Aug 2008

The government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to initiate a parliamentary debate on the privatisation of telecoms in the country, as the long-delayed sale process of state-owned HT Mostar and BH Telecom continues to stall. The opposition party, the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP) has stated that it will oppose any plans for selling of the two telcos if it appears the sales take place only to fill holes in the budget. The chairman of the House of Representatives, Milorad Zivkovic, has stated that no decision on the matter should be expected before the next elections.
