NCC to probe Alheri Engineering’s 3G plans

27 Aug 2008

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched an investigation into Alheri Engineering, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, which was awarded a 3G licence in March 2007. Under the terms of the concession, valued at USD150 million, winners had to ‘keep the public abreast of developments’. However, there has no been sign from the company that it is preparing to initiate next generation services. The move comes at a time when new operator Etisalat has expressed a desire for a 3G concession of its own.
