JasTel pursues international cable link

26 Aug 2008

Thai telecoms service provider JasTel Network, a subsidiary of Jasmine International, is preparing to invest at least THB1 billion (USD30 million) to install an international submarine cable link, according to the firm’s general manager Somchai Treerattananukool, who told local press that the investment proposal is pending approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). ‘We hope this investment would offer another choice for clients apart from the services of [state-run former international telephony monopoly] CAT Telecom,’ he said. JasTel is licensed to operate infrastructure-based domestic and international leased circuits, IP-VPNs and managed network services.
