MakTel starts rolling out FTTH network

15 Aug 2008

Macedonian fixed line incumbent Makedonski Telekom (MakTel), which trades under the T-Home banner of its German parent Deutsche Telekom, has begun the rollout of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology to homes in the capital Skopje, local newspaper Dnevnik reports. The operator hopes the new network will replace legacy copper lines and enable the delivery of high speed data transmission services. MakTel is planning on covering the entire area of Skopje with FTTH by the end of October, following which the network will be expanded to Bitola, Tetovo and other cities.
