Maroc Telecom first half net income up 18%; raises outlook

Maroc Telecom has posted a 17.6% year-on-year rise in first half net profit to MAD4.5 billion (USD618 million), on revenues that increased by 10% to MAD14.3 billion. It also reported an 11% year-on-year rise in six-month operating profit to MAD6.7 billion and raised its forecast for the full year. The Moroccan incumbent telco said it expected overall 2008 revenue growth to exceed 8%, with an 11% rise in annual earnings from operations. The fixed line, mobile and broadband operator, a subsidiary of France’s Vivendi, reported breakdowns of revenue and subscriber data earlier this month.
