Vodafone awards Ericsson next generation charging and IMS contract

Ireland’s leading mobile operator by subscribers, Vodafone Ireland, has awarded a contract to Ericsson to integrate a real-time charging and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution on its national network. Under the deal the Swedish vendor will be responsible for providing systems integration of the cellco’s existing applications and solutions into the next generation IMS platform, as well as upgrading and expanding network capacity, enabling real-time charging and providing multimedia functionality.

Commenting on the contract award, John Hennessy, managing director, Ericsson Ireland, said: ‘We are delighted to extend our partnership with Vodafone. The integration of this next generation, end-to-end solution will help the operator realise new revenue opportunities and expand its multimedia offering to its customers.’
