3 Jul 2008

By 31 March 2008 there were more than 3.49 million people signed up to one of the Netherlands’ mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), writes Telecompaper. The figure was up 4.7% on the 3.34 million figure reported at 30 September 2007, giving virtual operators 17.8% of the total number of SIM cards in the country by the end of the first quarter. The Dutch research group said that a number of new MVNOs entered the arena in the period October 2007 to March 2008, including BEN, Easytel Mobile and Vectone. By the start of April 2008 there were 44 active virtual operators in the Dutch mobile market, broadly unchanged on the previous year, with some operators exiting the sector or closing down.
