Chinese equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has said it has been selected by Mobilink, Pakistan’s largest wireless network operator by subscribers and a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom, to deploy a commercial WiMAX network. In a statement, Huawei said the network will cover the central business districts of Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. Under the terms of the contract, Huawei will provide Mobilink with a WiMAX solution designed to help the company meet the country’s increasing broadband needs.
