Telesystems launches new FMC service

25 Jun 2008

CDMA2000 network operator Telesystems of Ukraine (PEOPLEnet) has launched fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) services in Kharkiv. The new service allows access to mobile services outdoors and fixed line services indoors (charged at PSTN rates) via a single handset, and comes bundled with inclusive internet/data usage via 1xEV-DO technology. Telesystems launched commercial 1xEV-DO services under the PEOPLEnet brand in Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa in February 2007 and has continued to expand the network across the country, aiming to deploy 1,000 base stations by the end of 2008 to cover 80% of Ukraine’s population; by that date it aims to have 100,000 3G subscribers.
