Report criticises Ukrtelecom

25 Jun 2008

The Ukrainian government’s General Control and Inspection Department has published a report which criticises former monopoly telco Ukrtelecom’s management. The report highlights a ‘prohibitive network access policy that pushes its competitors to build their own networks’, and claims that the incumbent has a fixed line waiting list of 1.3 million potential customers despite having the technical capacity to increase network capacity to meet demand.
