Glo Mobile Ghana pays USD50.1 million for sixth licence

Nigerian-backed mobile firm Glo Mobile Ghana has paid up its USD50.1 million licence fee for rights to become Ghana’s sixth mobile operator. According to Mr. Yinka Olafimihan, head of Glo Mobile parent Globacom’s New Markets division, the fee was paid last Wednesday – well ahead of the 20 June 2008 payment deadline given by the Ghanaian regulator the National Communications Authority (NCA).
