23 May 2008

Dutch former monopoly KPN Telecom has reportedly formed a joint venture with rival telco Reggefiber under which the pair will amalgamate their FTTH activities in a new partnership named Reggefiber FttH. According to Telecompaper, KPN will take a 41% stake in the new venture, while Reggefiber will hold a majority 59% interest. The two companies had earlier agreed to cooperate on a FTTH project in Almere, designed to roll out fibre-optic links to 70,000 households. The Almere project will be rolled up into the new partnership, the statement said.
