GT to expand services to northern parts of Western Region

20 May 2008

Ghanaian fixed line telco Ghana Telecom (GT) has revealed plans to expand its network and services to northern parts of the Western Region to provide telecoms access and in turn stimulate socio-economic activity in the area. GT intends to invest USD50,000 to ‘hopefully cover considerable portions of the region’, said Emmanuel Adusei Essel, Western Regional Manager of GT. The monies will be spent on equipment to provide voice and data communications to Sefwi and Wassa, as well as modernising its facilities at Enchi and extending customer service points at Axim. The operator is also working on a promotion to improve fixed line uptake in the region; more than 600 people have taken advantage of the offer, raising the total number of customers in the region to 19,000, Kwasi Kyei, GT Commercial Manager, said.
