KPN Telecom and equipment manufacturer Samsung will announce full details of the proposed new DVB-H service in The Netherlands on 29 May, which is scheduled for launch ‘before June’, writes Broadband TV News. The operator’s MobielTV service will offer mobile versions of existing channels, as well as dedicated made-for-mobile content. It is understood deals are already in place with RTL for two channels, with more announcements expected in due course. KPN hopes to go live with MobielTV in time to profit from live coverage of the Euro 2008 finals and the Beijing Olympics, which will be broadcast via mobile by public broadcaster NOS.
