Elisa’s 1Q sales and profits dip

25 Apr 2008

Finnish telco Elisa has reported an 18% fall in first-quarter profit, caused mainly by billing problems and cheaper tariffs. Net profit for the three months ended 31 March 2008 was EUR40.2 million (USD63 million), down from EUR49.1 million a year earlier. Net sales fell by 3% to EUR367 million, of which mobile operations generated EUR223 million (down from EUR229 million in the same period of 2007), and fixed network services EUR156 million (EUR163 million). Elisa claimed 2.69 million wireless customers at the end of March, of which 2.37 million were in Finland and 327,400 in Estonia.
